Investment Approach
A disciplined process, applied across strategies.
Hondius invests through a disciplined framework applied across our strategies: a wide field of observation narrowed by research into a selective set of positions, each managed against clearly defined risk.
Principles
Global perspective
Opportunities are evaluated across regions, asset classes, and strategies rather than within a single market.
Fundamental research
Views are grounded in data and analysis, not narrative or momentum.
Market structure
Liquidity, positioning, and instrument selection are part of the investment decision.
Selectivity
A concentrated set of well-understood views is preferred to broad, diluted exposure.
Adaptability
The map is never finished. Portfolios change with the terrain rather than defend a fixed stance.
Alignment
Decisions are made with the long-term objectives of our investors in view.
Structural Perspective
Cycles move within systems that also change.
Our research considers cyclical data alongside changes in trade, industrial policy, sovereignty, supply chains, and the organization of national economies. These forces can alter how growth, inflation, commodities, currencies, and capital flows interact.
We do not anchor the portfolio to one permanent view of the world. We update the map as evidence changes, then seek the clearest available expression of that view.
The Process
From observation to position.
- 01
Identify
We monitor policy, growth, inflation, and market- and asset-level data across regions and strategies to surface where pricing diverges from underlying value.
- 02
Research
Each candidate view is tested against fundamental data, historical analogues, and, in credit and private strategies, the underlying collateral and borrower profile through which it would be expressed.
- 03
Assess
We define the thesis, the expected path, the conditions that would invalidate it, and the asymmetry required before capital is committed.
- 04
Position
Expression matters. We select the instruments and structures, public or private, that capture the view with the cleanest available risk and liquidity profile.
- 05
Manage Risk
Positions are monitored, resized, and exited as conditions evolve. Risk review is continuous rather than periodic.
Risk Management
Risk Is Part of the Map.
We evaluate liquidity, correlation, markets, and overall portfolio construction as one connected exercise. No view is considered complete until its risk is understood.
